dev|sushi: a new hope
Welcome! This blog is the new home of my technical commentary which previously was peppered into my personal blog. It all started with a vision to completely redo that site from the ground up using 100% WordPress. I began by thinking about my audience (the best place to start). The majority of the readers are friends and family that really had no desire to wade through my sometimes long technical rants. This fact made it easy to decide to separate it out and create this new place.
I am the typical “jack-of-all-trades” type and routinely work with web programming tools for my job. As a hobby I play with graphics and enjoy programming with OpenGL, although I am slowly learning DirectX. My hope is to bring lots of interesting technical solutions in tutorial form as well as rant about issues I encounter that are frustrating. As you can see by the list of categories at the bottom of this page I plan to cover a wider range of languages.
Topics that I will touch on are AJAX and Web 2.0 (or Javascript, XML, XHTML, CSS) for those that don’t like using the buzzwords. In addition I do a lot of ASP.Net programming for work. I have a love/hate relationship with .Net in that I love all the tools and libraries included but hate the restrictive framework of the page model. PHP will also be discussed since all my person projects off work time are created with it.
My graphics experience is not vast by any means but I have been doing it off and on for quite a few years now. However, my experience is mostly in the research end of the spectrum and so it doesn’t exactly apply to the independent gaming industry or the actual gaming industry. I have always held the hope that one day I will become a technical consultant for a company like NVidia or ATi but I think I have a lot of competition there.
Please be kind about the current state of this site. It is a work in progress and will be cleaned up as I move toward v2. I had some stuff on my mind that I wanted to get up here so the design suffered. I hope you enjoy my blog.

I LOVE the new design. You’ve outdone yourself. I kept looking for a link to the site where you purchased this WP template, but then I noticed that YOU did it. Amazing. Oh, and I see you chose SP to host your site. Why did you choose them?
Haha, Thanks very much for the compliment Andrew! I am still having quite a few issues with the template including font sizes and other things with the elastic layout (scales up to 1024 wide). Also I am looking into a few plugins to add more functionality to WordPress like a better Recent Posts list for the footer. All in good time. I should really edit the post and say instead “as I move toward v1.0″ as this is clearly like a v0.5. :o)
