At the time I was interested in using phpBB with Drupal and there just wasn't a way to connect them. The community was closed to the idea of extending the system with 3rd party software and instead resorted to writing their own version (which obviously were much less feature-full). Unfortunately many developers seem to think that validation is all they need to worry about. I have an article about that coming on <a href="http://www.apaddedcell.com" rel="nofollow">A Padded Cell</a>. Liam has been spending a lot of time working with Drupal lately and he's really loving it. He think it will be the CMS of the future :) Well, hopefully removing the layout tables is part of the work they are doing!
